The Bad Idea Lab
About Dumbfoundry
About Dumbfoundry
Dumbfoundry is a bad idea lab for the products nobody needs and the internet cannot stop thinking about. The audience suggests an absurd object; we choose one, prototype it in public, and manufacture a deliberately tiny batch.
How the lab works
Every experiment begins with a suggestion. We share the sketches, failures, wrong turns, and final reveal rather than pretending products arrive fully formed. If the idea survives the bench, it becomes a limited drop—usually 25 to 100 pieces.
Why so few?
Dumbfoundry is not building an endless catalog. Small runs let us make stranger things, avoid waste, and move quickly to the next audience-mandated mistake. When a drop is gone, the lab moves on.
The only product rule
Useful is optional. Shareable is essential. We make objects that earn the reaction: “That's stupid. I want one.”
